Descrizione

Practise reading and writing key words from the rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl's Birthday Tea' by Rachel Schmidlechner and Nadja Grace Bodner.

These wordmats can be used in lots of different ways

1) I spy with my little eye … Fox! (children point at Fox or place their rubber on it, for example). This can also be done as pairwork.

2) colour dictation - I spy with my little eye … a green frog!

3) bingo - each child chooses three pictures and places something on them, e.g. counters/glass nuggets. The teacher draws the picture cards at random and once their three have been called, the children shout 'Bingo!'.

This can also be played in groups with a bingo master for each group.

4) hide the wordcards / flashcards around the room and the children label the pictures themselves. This is a copy-writing exercise.

For an extra challenge pupils leave their sheets on their desks and have to memorise the spellings.
