Brown Owl's Spring & Easter - BUNDLE OF ACTIVITIES

Playing games allows children to PRACTISE language in a fun and relaxed environment.This activity can be used as a filler, a station activity , for early finishers etc.  The game itself does not last long but the pupils will enjoy it so much that they play it over and over again!Why not laminate the sheet so that it can be reused? Or children can place different coloured glass nuggets down instead of drawing Ox and Xs.By playing a game of tic tac toe / noughts and crosses, children have to USE the new language and tactics to win the game.They are in control of the level of language they use.E.g. I have written this poem to accompany the busy spring/Easter scene picture.The poem starts with:Spring is here. The sun is out.The Easter Bunny is hopping about.The poem depicts how we typically portray spring and Easter time to young children. It also includes some of your favourite characters from my rhyming picture book series 'Read and Rhyme with Brown Owl'.I would introduce the poem with lots of actions to aid comprehension. I will be creating an Instagram reel to show you how I would do it.I would then read it a second time and see if the children can find where each verse occurs in the picture.There are gap fill worksheets and a cut & stick activity too.I have included a full-colour and black and white version of the full illustration.Story WalkThe story walk uses the same language and illustrations as the poem.
