Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is a popular celebration in Britain.
It takes place on the last Tuesday before Lent.
Traditionally, pancakes are made and eaten on this day. Schools and towns also organise pancake races, where you have to run and toss a pancake at the same time.
I like to carry out this tradition in my English lessons too. Either the children can practise their tossing/flipping skills with a fake pancake (see reel below) and count how many times they can do it in a minute, or we go outside in the playground and hold pancake races.
These certificates can be printed in full colour or black & white.
If you'd like to go into the topic in more detail, check out my rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl and the Pancake Mix'.
