The aim of this task is to learn the steps required to make pancakes.

The activity can be done as a whole class or as a pair work activity.

WHOLE CLASS:

The teacher reads the instruction cards one by one.

The children do the actions (demonstrated by teacher if necessary).

PAIRWORK:

This works best if you have the real objects available. One child reads the instructions, the other child uses the objects to pretend to make pancakes.

Children love roleplay and the total physical reponse element helps to memorise the language.

If you are lucky enough to have a school kitchen, you could make real pancakes too!

Pancake Day is the last Tuesday before Lent and British people make and eat pancakes on this day.
