The children's task is to match the cards to the correct pictures. The sentences on the cards describe what is happening in the picture (e.g. The angel is talking to Mary.). The children read the sentences one by one and place the cards where they belong. I recommend working gradually - first cards with a yellow dot, then with a green dot, then finally with a blue dot. There are 3 cards for each picture, see below.
The images are numbered, so the first step can be to sort the images according to the numbers.
The material includes:
✹ 12 pictures from the Easter story
✹ 36 descriptive cards to match:
⋆ There are three sets of color-coded cards (each set has a different color – yellow, green, and blue).
⋆ Each set contains 12 cards, i.e. within each set, one card belongs to one picture.
⋆ The cards are available in color or black and white version. Choose and print only the version that suits you. If you choose the black and white version, color the dots on the cards with the colors according to the labels.
✹ solution – an example of which descriptive cards belong to which pictures. The solution can be printed and put in a bag together with the cards or projected on the wall after the work.
✹ 2 worksheets: The task in the first worksheet is to match each sentence to the correct picture. The task in the second worksheet is to cut out sentences from the bottom of the sheet and then glue them each under the correct picture.
You can use the material in several ways:
❶ Offer the child only one set of sentence cards for the pictures, e.g. only the yellow set. In this case, only one card (=one sentence) will always belong to one picture, see the first photo above.
❷ Offer the child two sets of cards for the pictures, e.g. yellow and green. In this case, each picture will have exactly two cards, each of these cards will have a different color - one will be yellow, one will be green.
❸ You offer the child only a few pictures (e.g. six) and all their correct sentences (all cards with sentences that belong to these six pictures; you will have to select them beforehand from the other remaining cards), see the second photo above.
❹ You offer the child all cards and all pictures. There will be three cards for each picture, each of these three cards will be marked with a different color. There are a lot of cards, so this option is suitable for working in groups and I recommend doing it on the floor). I also recommend sorting the individual sets gradually - first yellow, then green, then blue.
❺ Have the kids create a poster – give them a large paper and have them glue all sentences under the correct pictures. Use the poster(s) as decoration.
