This BINGO game is a great way to practise and consolidate vocabulary from my rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl and the Bee Hive'.It can be played as a class or in small groups with a quizmaster.I have included a set of picture/word cards for the quizmaster to draw at random. If you print two sets, they double up as a game of pairs too.If someone gets three pictures in a row, they shout LINE!If they get all nine pictures, they shout BINGO!I like to embed each word in a sentence so that the children are exposed to as much language as possible. E.g. I can see lots of flowers. Bees are buzzing in the grass. Claire Bear is looking after the bees. Look! Use these game cards to practise key words from the rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl and the Bee Hive', by Rachel Schmidlechner and Nadja Grace Bodner. There are two sets with 24 key words.Set 1 is for readers, set 2 for non-readers.How to play:1) shuffle the cards2) hand out one card to each pupil (some can have two cards if necessary)3) the child with the first card begins: "I have got the first card. Who has got Busy Lizzy?"4) The child with Busy Lizzy on their card carries on: "I have got Busy Lizzy. Who has got the sun?"and so it goes on until the last card is played.Once the children have got the hang of the game, they get faster and faster. You can turn it into a competition by timing them each round they play and seeing if they can improve on their record.Non-readers just say what they have on their card in a simplified form: e.g. Busy Lizzy is here!
