These picture dictionary wordmats can be used in lots of different ways.
1) Teacher says: I can see an elephant at the zoo (children point at the elephant or place their rubber on it). This can also be done as pairwork.
2) colour dictation - I can see a grey elephant. Colour the snake dark green and light green!
3) bingo - each child chooses three pictures and places something on them, e.g. counters/glass nuggets. The teacher draws the picture cards at random and once their three have been called, the children shout 'Bingo!'.
This can also be played in groups with a bingo master for each group.
4) hide the wordcards / flashcards around the room and the children fill in the missing words.
