Kids love playing with language and will have lots of fun creating silly sentences with this dice game. They roll the dice and circle their answers.Next, they read their silly sentences to a friend/teacher/the class.Now it’s time to write the sentences down and/or draw a picture of the silliest/favourite one.This activity reuses and consolidates key language from my rhyming picture 'Brown Owl at the Zoo'.It also practises reading, speaking, listening and writing skills. Have you ever heard of a cinquain (pronounced 'sin-cane') poem before?It's a simple form of poetry that can be adapted to many topics.I have created this resource to describe animals and objects seen at the zoo.A cinquain is made up of 11 words and 5 lines.The 1st line is a colour (1 word)The 2nd line is the animal or thing seen at the zoo (2 words)The 3rd line is where the animal/thing is (3 words)The 4th line describes what you can do with it (4 words)The 5th line is an adjective to describe it (1 word)I really like this activity as firstly, it encourages children to be creative with language and secondly, it revises colours, animals, prepositions and adjectives at the same time.N.B. One, two, let's go to the zoo!One, two, three, what can you see?I can see elephants! I can see two crocodiles!Game also includes: spiders, penguins, monkey, hippos, giraffes, lions and snakesPlaying games allows children to PRACTISE language in a fun and relaxed environment.This activity can be used as a filler, a station activity , for early finishers etc.  The game itself does not last long but the pupils will enjoy it so much that they play it over and over again!Why not laminate the sheet so that it can be reused? Or children can place different coloured glass nuggets down instead of drawing OXO.By playing a game of tic tac toe / noughts and crosses, children have to USE the new language and tactics to win the game.They are in control of the level of language they use.E.g.
