INGLÉS ESL EFL TESOL ENGLISH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES ENGLISH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER ENGLISH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES ENGLISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND ENGLISH CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY LIST
Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in English, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 30 English Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some English-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures. There is some focus on the UK, with vocabulary such as Father Christmas, Christmas cracker and mince pies. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about UK Christmas practices and customs in general. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The vocabulary list features both the definite and indefinite article, singular and plural, with a column that students should complete in their first / home language for additional consolidation of the English words.
There are 10 word searches in the set:
= Grids 1-4 shows the English word that students search for in the grid. For additional consolidation, students also have to write out the corresponding word again.
= Grids 5-7 have scrambled words as prompts. Students have to work out what the word is before they can search for it in the grid. They also write out the complete word for additional consolidation.
= Grids 8-10 prompt with a Christmas image, students write the corresponding English word in the list, and then search for it in the grid.
There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer keys help them develop independence in their learning, and also provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with the English vocabulary. To save prep costs, it is fine to give the answer keys to students in digital format for classwork. The word searches and answer keys are in portrait format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located. There are two formats - search grids and answer keys in separate files, and together in a single file so that you can print them back-to-back if that suits your classroom more.
The word searches are useful in a range of learning contexts - as bell ringers, starters, refreshers, finishers, fun-time fillers and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season.
The Lively Learning Classroom offers a wide range of English resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.
