Carnival Costumes - Colour Pack

The aim of this card game is to practise questions and short answers using the present continuous with the verb “wear”, as well as vocabulary related to Carnival costumes. This game is a version of the classic card game "Go Fish", in which students have to find two identical cards and get as many pairs as possible. The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and then dealt so that each student has five cards (seven in small groups and three in larger groups). The rest of the cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table. Students take turns to play the game. One by one, each student asks another classmate if he/she has a particular card asking the question written on the card (e.g. “Is Amy wearing a cheerleader costume?”). If that person has the same card, he/she has to say the corresponding short answer (e.g. “Yes, she is.”) and give it to the student who has asked the question. On the contrary, if the student to whom the question is addressed to doesn’t have that particular card, he/she will reply with a negative short answer (e.g. “No, she isn’t.”). The other classmates will say “Go Fish”, and the student who has asked the question will have to take one card from the pile. The game continues until all the cards are given, and the student with more pairs at the end will be the winner.

This game called "Don't say the words!" contains 36 colour cards with vocabulary related to Carnival costumes. The aim is to get your teammates to guess the word you are describing, but there is a list of words on each card that you are not allowed to say. First of all, you should divide teams evenly, get the cards ready, and have a timer. As you play, you should try to give creative clues without mentioning the forbidden words. You can pass in case you get stuck with one card. Each word you get right will be a point for your team, and all of the cards you skip, or cards on which you mention any of the secret words will be a point for the other team.

This worksheet contains 40 colour images related to Carnival costumes, as well as a puzzle in which students must find the corresponding words and write the vocabulary under each image.

Curso: 4.-6. PRIM

This set contains 20 colour bingo cards and each of them has eight pictures related to Carnival costumes. There are 40 different costumes in total. The teacher calls out the words by using flashcards or a random wheel. Each time the teacher calls out a word, the students will look for the matching picture on their cards and they will put a counter/button or any small object on the square. The first student to get the eight words on the card will say 'Bingo', and will win the game. The game can continue until all the players complete their cards. A printable version is included to play in electronic devices.
