The aim of this card game is to practise questions and short answers using the present continuous with the verb “wear”, as well as vocabulary related to Carnival costumes.

This game is a version of the classic card game "Go Fish", in which students have to find two identical cards and get as many pairs as possible.

The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and then dealt so that each student has five cards (seven in small groups and three in larger groups). The rest of the cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table.

Students take turns to play the game. One by one, each student asks another classmate if he/she has a particular card asking the question written on the card (e.g. “Is Amy wearing a cheerleader costume?”). If that person has the same card, he/she has to say the corresponding short answer (e.g. “Yes, she is.”) and give it to the student who has asked the question. On the contrary, if the student to whom the question is addressed to doesn’t have that particular card, he/she will reply with a negative short answer (e.g. “No, she isn’t.”). The other classmates will say “Go Fish”, and the student who has asked the question will have to take one card from the pile.

The game continues until all the cards are given, and the student with more pairs at the end will be the winner.
