Ready-to-use talking cards with talking topics on one side and possible talking points/vocababulary help on the other side for student who need more help expressing themselves spontaneously in English.The talking cards cover points of interest for teenagers, like finding a perfect partner, career plan, travelling, etc.

Klassenstufen: 8-9. Klasse

These talking cards encourage students to think and talk about reasons for immigrants to leave their country. They also ask them to change perspective, to think about a country they would decide to emigrate to. Students put the cards face down between them and then take turns turning them over, reading them to their partner or group and answering them. If they can’t think of a reason/answer, they can turn over the corresponding “help”-card and read it out to their partner/group. This way, students, who need more help, can participate. I aligned the cards, so that you can print them on both sides too, if wanted.

Speaking prompts:These talking cards encourage class 5 students to talk about easy everyday topics. Students put the cards face down between them and then take turns turning them over, reading them to their partner. The partner then has to answer the question.  If they can’t formulate an answer, they can turn over the corresponding “help”-card and use it to help them form their own sentence. This way, students, who need more help, can participate. I aligned the cards, so that you can print them on both sides too, if wanted. 

Klassenstufen: 5-6. Klasse

These Stop and Swap Cards about feelings can be used with the whole class. Students mingle and whenever they encounter another student, they talk about their cards and then swap them and continue mingling. You can also simply let them wander around class and the students simply them on and talk about them with one or two partners.Another possibility is to give every group one set of cards. There is vocabulary help on the back of the cards so that more challenged students will have the help they need to participate and actually talk in English while the faster students can talk freely about the pictures.This way you have a natural differentiation for your class.
