This is  fun way to practise irregular verbs. All students know how to play it. They turn over 2 cards, trying to find two matching ones.

You can also let the students practise the simple past (positive and negative sentences plus questions) but remember that the card game only covers irregular verbs.

The game is self-explanatory and my students just love playing it. You can let them play in pairs or groups and use it for faster students AND students who need extra help. I added pictures to intensify the learning process.

See my complete set of that game. I divided the irregular verbs into three differently coloured groups because the game gets too long if there are too many pairs the students have to find. That way, they can also use all cards if they want to but they can also use just one colour to make it easier.
