Descrizione

This resource includes a game board with 30 numbered squares and 30 cards containing sentences with gaps to complete using the Present Simple tense.

An interactive version is also included, allowing students to play using electronic devices.

Traditional Board Game Version

The game can be played as a traditional board game using counters and a dice. Students take turns rolling the dice and moving their counters to the corresponding square. They then pick up the matching card and conjugate the verb in brackets using the Present Simple tense. The first player to reach square 30 is the winner.

Adapted Version

The game can also be adapted using simple classroom materials: lolly sticks, permanent markers or stickers, a timer, and a container (e.g. a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket).

  1. Write the numbers and words on the lolly sticks, or cut out and stick the words onto them.

  2. Place all the sticks in the container.

Students can play in pairs or teams. On their turn, each student draws a stick from the container and either says the word or forms a sentence corresponding to that number.

To make the game more exciting, include special sticks:

  • Boom – the student must return all the sticks they have collected to the pot.

  • Boom – both teams return all their sticks to the pot and the game starts again.

  • “Steal 1” – the student takes one stick from the opposing team.

  • “Exchange” – both teams swap one stick.

  • “Bonus” – the team keeps the stick and has another turn.

  • “Miss a turn” – the team misses their next turn.

The winner is the player or team that has collected the most sticks when the time runs out.

For an extra challenge, assign points to the numbers on the sticks. The winner is then the team with the highest total score.
