This resource contains a board with 30 numbered squares and 30 cards with sentences about leisure activities. Students complete the sentences using the present simple or present continuous, and the verbs do, go, and play.
An interactive version is also included, allowing students to play using electronic devices.
Traditional Board Game Version
The game can be played as a classic board game using counters and a dice. Students take turns rolling the dice and moving their counter to the corresponding square. They then pick the matching card and conjugate the appropriate verb (do, go, or play) using either the present simple or present continuous. The first player to reach square 30 wins.
Adapted Version
The game can also be adapted using simple classroom materials such as popsicle sticks, permanent markers or stickers, a timer, and a container (e.g., pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket).
Students can play in pairs or teams. On their turn, each student draws a stick from the container and either says the word or forms a sentence corresponding to that number.
To make the game more engaging, include special sticks:
The winner is the player or team that has collected the most sticks when time runs out. For an extra challenge, you can assign points to the numbers. The winner is then the player or team with the highest total score.
