Simon Says is a total physical response activity, that improves listening skills AND helps children to remember language more easily.

If you are new to the game, this is how it works.

All the children up.

The teacher says what the children should do and starts each sentence with SIMON SAYS.

If the teacher omits SIMONS SAYS, the children should stand still and NOT do the action.

If they still do the action, then they are out.

For the first round I always say SIMON SAYS. This gives the children the chance to familiarise themselves with the language and actions.

After a few rounds it is really hard to catch them out! At this point I get faster and faster.

I find it handy to have a set of cards and actions to fall back on. Otherwise I find myself repeating the same 4/5 phrases and forget about the rest.
