The aim of this card game is to practise forming questions and short answers using the present simple and vocabulary related to household chores.

This game is a version of the classic card game Go Fish, in which students have to find matching pairs and collect as many pairs as possible.

The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and then dealt so that each student has five cards (seven in small groups and three in larger groups). The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table.

Students take turns playing the game. One by one, each student asks a classmate if they have a particular card by reading the question written on their own card (e.g. “Do you air your bedroom every morning?”). If the other student has the matching card, they must respond with the correct short answer (e.g. “Yes, I do.”) and hand over the card. However, if the student does not have the matching card, they reply with a negative short answer (e.g. “No, I don’t.”). The other classmates then say “Go Fish”, and the student who asked the question must draw a card from the pile.

The game continues until all the cards have been collected. The student with the most pairs at the end is the winner.
