This resource features a set of cards with questions using the verb have got and vocabulary related to Christmas. The game is a variation of the classic card game "Go Fish," where students aim to collect as many pairs of identical cards as possible.
To play, the teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and dealt so that each student receives five cards (seven in smaller groups and three in larger groups). The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the centre of the table.
Students take turns asking each other for specific cards. One by one, each student asks another if they have a particular card, using the question written on the card (e.g. Have you got the mistletoe?). If the other student has the requested card, they respond with the appropriate short answer (e.g., Yes, I have.) and hand it over. If they do not have the card, they reply, Go Fish, and the asking student must draw a card from the pile.
The game continues until all cards have been collected into pairs. The student with the most pairs at the end of the game wins.
