This educational resource offers a fun and dynamic way to learn about the life of Saint Patrick and his impact on the identity of Ireland. Through interactive activities, students will develop reading comprehension skills and question formulation.
Learning Objectives
Learn about the life of Saint Patrick and how his mission to spread Christianity in Ireland influenced the country's identity and its people.
Review the formation of "wh" questions in the simple past tense.
Target Students
Students at levels A2-B1 (3rd year of ESO - 1st year of Bachillerato).
How to Use the Material
This activity is done in pairs. There are three versions of the same text about the life of Saint Patrick: the teacher's version (a complete text) and two student versions (A and B) with missing information.
The goal is for students to fill in the blanks by asking their partners for the missing information.
To start, each student receives a version of the text and a few minutes to write the necessary questions on paper.
If there are students who need support, you can ask all those with version A to work together in a group to formulate their questions.
Then, students return to their pairs and take turns asking questions and filling in the missing information.
Finally, you can read or show the teacher's version along with the answer key, including the questions they have written. This is a great opportunity to review grammatical structures, especially "wh" questions and interrogative sentences in the past tense.
