The aim of this card game is to practise asking and answering questions in the future simple tense, focusing on New Year’s resolutions.
This version of the classic card game "Go Fish" challenges students to find matching pairs of cards and collect as many pairs as possible.
The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards should be shuffled and dealt so that each student receives five cards (seven in smaller groups, and three in larger groups). The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the centre of the table.
Students take turns asking a classmate if they have a particular card, using the question written on it (e.g. "Will you go to bed earlier this year?"). If the classmate holds the matching card, they must respond with the corresponding short answer (e.g. "Yes, I will.") and hand it over. If not, they will reply negatively (e.g. "No, I won’t.") and the others will say "Go Fish". The student who asked the question then draws a card from the pile.
The game continues until all pairs are collected, and the student with the most pairs at the end wins.
Both colour and black-and-white versions of the cards are included.
