This worksheet is aimed at ESL (English as second/ foreign language) students, B1 preliminary level and higher.

Use it when you teach the topic of nature, weather, or elements.

The students need a copy of the first 2 pages. First, ask them to identify the pictures at the bottom of the first page. They can use these words to fill in the gaps of the sentences from 1-11. They should guess what the idioms are. Then you check if they chose the correct pictures and move on to the second page where they have to match the sentences 1-11 to the definitions of the idioms a-k. Then discuss the meaning together.
