How to Read and Rhyme with Brown Owl

I like to use lots of mimes when I teach the key words to go with a story.  If you stimulate as many senses as possible when teaching a foreign language then you will firstly reach as many learning styles as possible (visual/auditory/kinaesthetic) and secondly you will give your learners the best change of remembering and internalising the new language.  For me the flashcards are my visual aid, what I say/sing/chant is the auditory factor and the actions/total physical response activities I do are the kinaesthetic element.  Once the children are confident with the key words and mimes, I then implement them when playing games and retelling the story without the book.

This video of me reading Book 1, 'Brown Owl', during Corona-lockdown for the Wuselstunde will give you some ideas of how to use my book when teaching English.

Have fun reading and rhyming with Brown Owl!
