This cute rhyme resource combines English & Art skills and is perfect for Valentine's Day. In fact, there's even a bit of Maths in there too as the heart craft is based on symmetry.

Children can learn the rhyme off by heart and then create a picture to give to a loved one as a present on Valentine's Day.

The language structure in the rhyme is repetitive, which helps children to remember it faster. It also revises colours:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

Owls are brown

And I love you!

I've included differentiated rhyme templates, as well as full instructions on how to make the hearts.

Level 3: Children write the poem by hand
