ENGLISH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES BINGO ENGLISH FOR BEGINNERS ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS ENGLISH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES FOR GERMAN SPEAKERSBingo games are an ideal multi-skill activity for English class, providing students with an opportunity to practise and consolidate language in a collaborative and communicative environment. Students generally find the competitive element really motivating, whether playing solo or in teams. The sets focus on 25 fruits and 25 vegetables in English respectively, featuring the definite article, both singular and plural, to help students practise the nouns in both contexts.  Using both also gives more scope to the games, effectively providing 50, rather than 25 possibilities for students to work with in each set. Students don’t generally learn so many fruits and vegetables at a particular time, but it’s useful to include a broad range of related vocabulary to enable students to engage with language implicitly, and to develop their vocabulary recall skills. The games work well in various learning contexts, for example learn and practice during the introductory phase, refresh and revise throughout the school year and activities for sub / cover lessons.There are 60 grids in each set: 40 with fruits / vegetables images only, perfect for developing listening and recall skills, and 20 fruits / vegetables images and nouns. These grids work particularly well for both listening and reading skills. Students have to pay really close attention to these grids, as some feature the same fruits / vegetables both as an image and a noun. There are four 5 x 3 grids per A4 (8.5 x 11) page. Students can play with any number of grids from either one or both sets in a single game, which is a straightforward way of increasing challenge. Grids can be distributed as whole pages, reducing prep time, or cut out individually. If you have erasable pens, laminating the pages of grids for repeated use reduces overall prep time and expense, particular if you print in colour. The grids are designed for all squares to be crossed in order to win the game, and there may be more than one winner per game.There is both an English and a German calling card for maximum differentiation. For a focus on listening skills, use the English version; for more targeted practice of fruits / vegetables in English, use the German list when playing with the mixed image and noun grids. Students will hear a vegetable in German, and have to locate the corresponding word in English in the grid. These games will take a little longer, because in order to cross off the images, you will also call out a series of vegetables in English.  There is a full reference list with images in each set.
