Children make their own accordion books to help them read some the key words from 'Brown Owl's Birthday Tea' by Rachel Schmidlechner and Nadja Grace Bodner.
The books are very simple to make. Simply cut off the edges, fold along the middle line and then fold like a fan. Next colour the pictures, cut them out and stick them above the correct word.
TIP: The colouring of the picture sheets can also be carried out as a colour dictation.
Alternatively children can read the words and draw their own pictures.
Children can take the accordion books home and show off their reading skills.
