In Book 3, Brown Owl's Birthday Tea, we see both Brown Owl's friends and family.  It is therefore a good opportunity to teach the family members in English.

This is a sorting activity with two categories: Friend or family?

Version one has pictures of Brown Owl's friends and family (suitable for non-readers)

Use the worksheet to play a game of listen and point or tic-tac-toe before colouring, cutting and sorting the pictures.  The colouring can also be carried out as a teacher-led activtiy (colour dictation).

Version two has words instead of pictures.  The worksheet can be used to play bingo. I like to hand out glass nuggets, the pupils select three words, I choose the words at random, the first pupil to remove all three nuggets has won.  Can also be played in groups with a pupil performing the role of the teacher.
