Play a game of pairs to practise key words from 'Brown Owl at the Seashore' by Rachel Schmidlechner and Nadja Grace Bodner.
I like to include this game when the pupils are working independently on stations.
TIP: Print on thick paper so you can't see through the paper.
Version 1 is picture only (non-readers)
Version 2 is word & picture (readers)
The b&w version is for children to create their own game to take home and practise there too.
The set includes 24 key summer words in total. You can also play with just 12. The first page focusses on all the key words beginning with the letter 's'. The second page includes other key words from the story.
Why not start with 12 and then add the other half when they need more of a challenge?
