Children can create their own seashore scene using their favourite images from the rhyming picture book Brown Owl at the Seashore, written by Rachel Schmidlechner and illustrated by Nadja Grace Bodner.

Step 1: Paint a watercolour background with sand, sea and sky.

OR use black and white template seaside background

Step 2: Either use the sheet of coloured images or colour own, cut out and stick on

Step 3: Talk about the picture! I can see crabs and seagulls. I can hear Grampy snoozing!

This activtiy consolidates key words from the story and the children are using them in context, which helps with memorisation of language.
