This resource includes a board with 30 numbers, 30 cards featuring images related to Christmas, and a visual dictionary with the vocabulary.
An interactive version is provided for use with electronic devices.
The game can be played in two ways:
1. Traditional board game
Players take turns rolling the dice and placing counters on the corresponding square. The player then picks the matching card and either says the word or uses it in a sentence. The first player to reach square 30 wins.
2. “Kaboom” version
This variation requires the following materials: popsicle sticks, permanent markers or stickers to write the numbers and words, a timer, and a container such as a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket. Numbers and words are written on the popsicle sticks, or words are cut and glued onto them. All sticks are placed in the container.
The game can be played in pairs or teams. Players take turns drawing a stick from the container and saying the word or forming a sentence corresponding to the number. Certain sticks have special instructions:
- “Kaboom” or “Boom”: All collected sticks must be returned to the container.
- “Super Kaboom” or “Boom”: All sticks are returned to the container, and play restarts.
- “Steal 1”: A stick is taken from the opposing team.
- “Exchange”: Teams exchange a stick.
- “Bonus”: The team keeps the stick and draws another, playing again.
- “Miss a turn”: The team misses its next turn.
The winner is the team or player who collects the most sticks when the timer ends.
To increase the challenge, points on the sticks can be added. The team with the highest total score wins.
