The aim of this board game is to transform sentences in direct speech into indirect (reported) speech. The game covers statements, questions, commands, and suggestions.
The set includes a printable board with 40 squares and 40 cards. Each card contains a sentence in direct speech along with a prompt to help students continue the sentence in reported speech (e.g. “He said that…” / “He asked me…” / “He told me…” / “He suggested…” / “He recommended…”).
To play, students need a dice and counters. Taking turns, each player rolls the dice, moves their counter to the corresponding square, and then selects a card to complete the sentence. While the activity is primarily designed for speaking practice, students can also write down their answers. The first player to reach square 40 wins the game.
An interactive version is also available for use on electronic devices.
