This resource includes a board game featuring 30 numbers and 30 cards with images related to Saint Patrick’s Day.

An interactive version for use with electronic devices is also provided.

One version of the game can be played as a traditional board game using counters and dice. In this format, students take turns rolling the dice and placing a counter on the corresponding square. They then select the matching card and either say the word or form a sentence using that word. The first player to reach square number 30 wins the game.

Alternatively, the game can be adapted to follow the rules of “Kaboom”. For this version you will need ice lolly sticks, permanent markers or stickers for writing the numbers and words, a timer, and a container (such as a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket). First, write the numbers and words on the ice lolly sticks (or attach the words using cut-outs), then place all the sticks into the container.

This version can be played in pairs or teams. Each student takes turns drawing a stick from the container and saying the word or forming a sentence that corresponds to that number. To add an extra twist, include the following additional commands:

The winner is the team or player who has collected the most sticks when time runs out.

For an added challenge, you can also tally the points from the numbers written on the sticks; the team with the highest total wins.
