"Moneybox" is a versatile activity for young learners.
They fill pots/purses/bags/chests/piggy banks with gold, completing simple tasks and revising the material in a fun way.
You may write on the coins:
uppercase (or lowercase) letters, the kids take one coin at a time and call or write the corresponding lowercase ones;
any letters, the players take turns to take a coin and come up with the words that begin with these letters, the letters can be repeated, but the answers can't;
a letter and a number (for example: A4, B3, C6), kids write the letter the appropriate number of times;
cvc words or sight words (2-5 letters), the task is to read the word. To complicate the task the letters can be mixed (e.g.: аtc, hte, ipg etc), the students decode the words, call them, and then write;
simple problems (e.g.: 5-2, 3+1, 8-6 etc.). To win a coin, the players need to give the correct answer, write the number or the word (e.g.: 2 or two).
extra activity - shuffle some coins with different tasks ( see the examples above), every player has got a pot. They take turns taking coins and completing tasks.
If the answer is correct, the coin goes to the player's wallet, if not, it is sent back to the”bank". To make the game more unpredictable, add special coins, writing on the back: bomb (-1 coin from their box) and bonus (+1 coin to their box without completing the task).
You can laminate the boards and the coins for longer use.
