These hilarious and quirky doodles will boost your students’ speaking, reading and writing skills while they practice present continuous tense, possessive pronouns and some digraphs as well. Learn and study with a giggle!
Target audience:
1st and 2nd year students who already have some vocabulary as well as basic writing/reading skills.
Goal of the exercise:
Practice present conscious tense in different persons, in a fun, non-boring way
Practice varied possessive pronomina
Activate the vocabulary of nouns and adjectives learned in the first year (see my Doodle Words worksheets)
Practice writing words
Put a spotlight on some digraphs, both consonants and vowels (oo, ee, sh)
Approach:
Over 60 original quirky doodles won’t let the kids get bored
Mixed “insert the letters” exercises engage the young student in writing without wearing them out
The assignments are built in such a way as to introduce the student to phonics and spelling, however, if there are letters or combinations of letters they don’t yet know, it does not spoil the fun – or reduce the educational value
Tips
In the classroom: cover the text on the right side and ask your students to explain what is going on in the picture. Then, uncover the text and encourage them to read it, then fill in the missing letters.
As homework: ask your students to study the pictures and guess what is going on in them. Then, they should read the text and fill in the missing letters.
These worksheets can also be used as an entertaining way of refreshing your students’ vocabulary, reading and writing skills during ‘back to school’ period.
