"Cheeky words: Find the words in the doodles and write them down!"
A sample of 6 visualized words for the kids to discover, learn, and practice. If you like them, make sure to check out our full version with over 120 doodle words!
The doodles serve as a creative bridge between the words and their meanings—between reading, comprehending and writing them.
What do the kids learn?
They find and read familiar words in the pictures
They memorize the words’ meanings by way of creative visualization
They practice writing in a playful way
How can you use these teaching aids:
To teach new words: kids can guess the meanings of words they don’t know yet by looking at the pictures.
After they learn the words, you could cover the doodles, then ask them to point to a certain word on a page, or to read the words aloud going from top to bottom or from bottom to top of the page. This way, you make sure the child really reads the words, and does not just recite them from memory.
To practice reading and writing familiar words: the visual riddles work really well with younger children who tend to rebel against written exercises. Playing detective, they are happy to write the words down with ease. Some like to make it a timed race: “How many words can I decipher in 2 minutes (3, 5 minutes)?”
