Objetives
Discover interesting facts about the life of the famous English writer, William Shakespeare.
Practice formulating questions to complete missing information in a text.
Review the structure of Wh- questions.
Target students
Students at A2-B1 levels (2nd to 4th year of ESO).
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL
This activity is conducted in pairs. There are three versions of the same text about William Shakespeare’s life: the teacher’s version (complete text) and two student versions (A and B) with missing information.
The goal is for students to fill in the blanks by asking their partners for the missing information. To begin, each student receives a version of the text and has a few minutes to write the necessary questions on paper. If some students need additional support, they can work in a group with Version A to review their questions, and the same can be done with students who have Version B.
After that, students return to their pairs and take turns asking questions to complete the missing information.
Finally, you can read or display the teacher’s version along with the answers, including the questions they have written. Since there can be multiple ways to formulate questions, this is a great opportunity to review grammatical structures, especially Wh- questions and past verb tenses.
KEY SKILLS DEVELOPED
Improve the ability to formulate effective questions.
Develop reading comprehension through information-seeking activities.
Encourage teamwork and collaboration among students.
Reinforce the use of past verb tenses and interrogative structures.
