The aim of this card game is to practise questions and short answers using the present simple tense of the verb “work” in the third person singular form, as well as vocabulary related to 50 occupations. This game is a version of the classic card game "Go Fish", in which students must find two identical cards and collect as many pairs as possible. The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and then dealt so that each student has five cards (seven in smaller groups and three in larger groups). The rest of the cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table. Students take turns to play the game. One by one, each student asks another classmate if they have a particular card by asking the question written on the card (e.g. “Does Kelly work as a pilot?”). If the other student has the same card, they must provide the corresponding short answer (e.g. “Yes, she does.”) and give it to the student who asked the question. If the student being asked does not have the particular card, they will reply with a negative short answer (e.g. “No, she doesn’t.”). The other classmates will then say “Go Fish”, and the student who asked the question must take one card from the pile. The game continues until all the cards have been distributed, and the student with the most pairs at the end will be the winner.

This resource is made up of two sets of 48 colour cards with vocabulary related to professions. One set contains the words with pictures of the jobs (e.g “I am an actress.”) and the other contains some clues to identify each word (e.g. “I am a woman who plays a part in films, series or plays.”). The aim of the game is to match the words with the corresponding clues. It can be played in different ways. For example, the teacher can read the clues aloud and lay the flash cards with the images face up on the table. The students will have to listen carefully to the teacher’s clues and then choose the right card. Another option is to place all the cards face down and use them to play a memory game. In this case, the players can read the clues themselves. The winner will be the student who is able to get more pairs.
