Are you looking for a fun and effective way to practise telling the time in English? Then this ‘I have... Who has...?’ game is just the thing for your class!

This material contains two versions:

Bordeaux set (32 cards): o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to

Green set (26 cards): o’clock and half past only

INSTRUCTIONS

All cards are distributed to the pupils. If the group size is not suitable, some pupils will have several cards or share a card.

Two groups can also be formed in the class, with each group receiving a set and playing separately.

The pupil with the start card begins and reads the question at the bottom of the card. The pupil with the matching picture answers with “I have …” and then reads the next question. This continues until the game ends with the last card.

VARIATIONS

•Against the clock: The time from the start card to the end is measured. Next time, the students try to beat this time.

•Laying a chain: 1-3 students lay the cards together like dominoes, matching them to each other in a row.

•With movement: The student with the start card comes to the front. The next student stands behind him or her and so on, until everyone is standing in a long line.
