Brown Owl's Christmas - Bundle of Activities

I have written this poem to accompany the busy Christmas scene picture.The poem starts with:It's the night before Christmas, in the owl family house.Everyone is busy, even Mabel Mouse.The poem depicts a typical family scene on Christmas Eve in Great Britain and includes some of your favourite characters from my rhyming picture book series 'Read and Rhyme with Brown Owl'.I would introduce the poem with lots of actions to aid comprehension. I will be creating an Instagram reel to show you how I would do it.I would then read it a second time and see if the children can find where each verse occurs in the picture.There are gap fill worksheets and a cut & stick activity.Story WalkThe story walk uses the same language and illustrations as the poem. Simon Says is a really popular game among young learners. It gets them moving, gets them out of their seats and is fun.Furthermore it improves concentration and listening skills, and the actions help them to remember the language.This set of cards focusses on Christmas vocabulary and activities.Rules of the game:If you say SIMON SAYS at the beginning of the sentence, children carry out the action. If you don't say SIMON SAYS, they should stand still. Anyone who does the action when they shouldn't, is out. I usually play a few practice rounds before enforcing this last rule.How to play:LEVEL 1 - single word levelSIMON SAYS you are a present / Father Christmas  / a present / a star etc.N.B. Don't read the sentences on the card. Just use the pictures and say the basic sentence: You are a ...LEVEL 2 - sentence levelUse the cards in this set and read the sentences.
