The Bean Family is a creative and humorous ESL teaching project designed to encourage students to use English in a fun, meaningful, and interactive way.

The material introduces students to Mr. Bean and Ms. Bean, a retired couple with a very large family. They have around 20 grandchildren, and although their everyday life is usually quiet, family reunions become exciting, chaotic, and full of funny moments. Students explore the Bean Family world and create their own characters, stories, and situations.

A central part of the material is character description. Students create and develop their own Bean character by describing appearance, personality, hobbies, interests, family connections, jobs, and life experiences. This gives students a clear reason to practise descriptive language and allows them to be creative while using English.

The material is especially suitable for English classes because it combines:
