French Christmas Word Searches for German Speakers from The Lively Learning Classroom World Languages collection: a selection of our most popular French resources for English speakers, recreated for German speakers.
Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie word search with answer key features a range of French Christmas words. Students are prompted with a German Christmas word and look for the corresponding French Christmas word in the grid.
The vocabulary helps to develop students’ awareness of some French-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures, such as la galette des Rois and Père Noël. The vocabulary is also useful for stimulating discussion about French Christmas practices and customs. Students enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow too.
There is an answer grid for the word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer key helps them develop independence in their learning, and also provides them with an additional opportunity to engage with the French vocabulary. The word search and answer key are in portrait format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located.
The word search is useful in a range of learning contexts - as a bell ringer, starter, refresher, finisher, fun-time filler and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season.
