There are so many more situations in the novel where we as readers never know what is said / done. The literary technique of withholding information — deliberately or unintentionally — creates suspense and often leads to amazing plot twists!

Get your students activated and make them create dialogues / podcasts / fake chats of passages in the novel that were necessarily left out by Nick Carraway, the first-person narrator with a limited point of view!
