This fun speaking game focuses on the grammar aspect of was and were. Get your students to use these two past simple forms of the verb "to be" in questions and short answers. 

The students can use their own name only once per column and cannot use a classmate's name twice per column. Afterwards it's always a good idea to check the winner's worksheet by asking questions and checking the students' answers!
