This resource includes a board with 30 numbered squares and 30 cards, each containing a sentence with a gap to be completed using the gerund or to‑infinitive form of the verb in brackets. The verbs featured on the cards are: remember, forget, regret, try, stop, mean, go on, and need.
A link is also provided to access the interactive version of the game for use with electronic devices.
The game can be played in two ways:
Traditional board game: Students take turns to roll a dice and move their counters along the board. They then select a card and complete the sentence using the gerund or to‑infinitive form of the verb in brackets.
Adapted version: This version requires ice lolly sticks, permanent markers or stickers to write numbers and words, a timer, and a container such as a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket. First, write the numbers and words on the sticks (or cut and attach the words). Place all the sticks in the container.
The game can be played in pairs or teams. Each student takes a turn to draw a stick from the pot and either say the word or construct a sentence corresponding to that number. To make the game more engaging, certain special sticks can be added:
The winner is the player or team who has collected the most sticks when time runs out.
For an extra challenge, the points on the numbered sticks can be added, with the team scoring the highest total declared the winner.
