This resource contains a board with 30 numbers and 30 cards, each featuring relative clauses with gaps to be filled with the appropriate relative pronoun or adverb (sometimes multiple options are possible).
We also provide a link to access the interactive version of the game.
On the one hand, this game can be played as a traditional board game with counters and dice. In this case, students take turns rolling the dice and placing their counters on the corresponding square. Then, they select the corresponding card and complete the sentence with the suitable relative pronoun or adverb.
On the other hand, it can be adapted and played following the rules of the game Kaboom. For this variation, the following supplies will be needed: popsicle sticks, permanent markers or stickers to write the numbers and words, a timer, and a container such as a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket. First, write the numbers and words on the popsicle sticks or cut and glue the words onto them. Then, place all the sticks in the container.
This game can be played in pairs or teams. On their turn, each student must take a stick from the pot and complete the sentence corresponding to that number. In addition to the numbers, certain words should be added to make the game more engaging:
The winner of the game will be the team or player who has collected the most sticks when the time runs out.
To make the game more challenging, in addition to counting the sticks, the points on the numbers written on the sticks can be added. The winner will be the team with the highest total points.
