Simple Sentences: Simple sentences are concise and straightforward, making them easy to understand.
Example: The internet has played a crucial role in facilitating globalization.
Compound Sentences: Compound sentences consist of two or more independent clauses joined together by coordinating conjunctions such as “and,” “but,” “or,” “so,” and “yet.”
Example 1: The internet has facilitated global communication, and social media platforms have played a significant role in spreading awareness about global issues.
Example 2: Globalization has led to increased cultural exchange and economic integration; however, it has also raised concerns about the loss of cultural diversity and local autonomy.
Complex Sentences: Complex sentences consist of one independent clause and at least one dependent clause, which cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. Dependent clauses are introduced by subordinating conjunctions such as “that,” “which,” “where,” “since,” “because,” etc.
Example 1: Globalization has facilitated the movement of capital across borders, the effects of which have been felt in financial markets around the world.
Example 2: Globalization has accelerated because of advancements in transportation and communication technologies
Compound-Complex Sentences: Compound-complex sentences combine the features of both compound and complex sentences. They consist of two or more independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.
Example: Globalization has led to increased trade between countries, which has boosted economic growth, but it has also widened the income gap between the wealthy and the poor, creating social disparities that need to be addressed.
