This original poem about Esme the elf, is a fun way to bring some Christmas spirit into your classroom.

Once you've read the poem to your class, they can learn and practise the poem for themselves. You can divide your class into small groups and each group can decide how to perform the poem, or you can do it as a whole class, and give each line to one or two students. 

There is also a cut up version of the poem for your students to put the text back in the correct order.

I have also created some extension activities for the students:

• Label the Elf - For lower level students there is a cut & glue activities with 6 words, for higher level students, they must label the elf using the word bank at the top of the worksheet.
• Reading text - learn all about a day in the life of Esme Elf in a fun reading text. There is also a short comprehension activity to accompany it. The reading text is available in 2 different levels.
• Elf Generator - What would your name be if you were an elf!
• Elf Yourself - A creative worksheet for the kids to imagine what they would be like as an elf. Higher level students can also write a text about their life as an elf.
