Teach English to Kindergarten kids (non-readers) with the rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl at the Zoo'.

There is so much langage to get out of the book and so much fun to be had practising it through games.

You can:

1) play pairs

2) play dominoes

3) make dice (Würfel) and see if two children can roll the same picture (I love playing this too and always get excited when we get a match!)

4) laminate the word mat four times and turn it into a game of bingo. Children select three pictures using counters and the teacher draws flashcards at random. The first child to remove all three counters shouts BINGO!

5) Use the Beebot cards to familiarise the children with the key pictures.

TIP: print the cards twice and turn them into a giant game of pairs!

Use the programming cards to send BeeBot around the mat and teach children basic BeeBot commands.

6) Hang the flashcards up around the gym. The teacher says a word, the children run to the picture. e.g. where is the elephant? Where is the giraffe?

7) Children move like the animals: jump like monkey, stomp like an elephant, snap like a crocodile, roar like a lion etc.

8) Make a mini book with all the animals at the zoo to take home

9) Laminate the hidden object picture. Children have to find the animals in the list and circle them. Wipe the card clean for the next player!

I have also included this picture as a colouring page.

10) Colour the animals, cut them out, glue them onto sticks and play a game of 'I spy, with my little eye' (teacher says the animals, the children hold them up) or a game of change places (Obstsalat) sitting in a circle.
