Play a game of hide & seek AND practise a simple verse from my rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl and the Bee Hive'.Step 1) Colour, cut and stick the bees onto pegs.N.B. If the children want to keep their own pegs after the game, write their names on them too. If you are creating a game for the class to use regularly, this is not necessary.Step 2) Go outside and hide the bees by pegging them onto plants, grass, trees or anything you can find!Remember to count the pegs first AND define which area of the garden you are playing in, or your could end up looking for the bees for hours!!!Step 3) Everyone says the verse together:Bees are buzzing in the grass, bees are buzzing in the air,Bees are buzzing here, there and everywhere! The children then run off and look for the bees.My children like to peg them onto their clothing so that their hands are free for looking.Step 4) Once all the bees have been found, take it in turns to hide them and play again!Extension: Ask the children where they found the bees! In the grass / in the flowers / in the trees etc.Have fun reading and rhyming with Brown Owl and the Bee Hive!www.readandrhyme.at
