These wordmat picture dictionaries depict key words from the rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl' and can be used in lots of different ways:1) I spy with my little eye … Fox! (children point at Fox or place their rubber on it, for example).  This can also be done as pairwork.2) colour dictation - I spy with my little eye … a green frog!3) bingo - each child chooses three pictures and places something on them, e.g. counters/glass nuggets.  The teacher draws the picture cards at random and once their three have been called, the children shout 'Bingo!'.This can also be played in groups with a bingo master for each group.4) hide the wordcards / flashcards around the room and the children label the pictures themselves.Have fun reading and rhyming with Brown Owl!For more information about my rhyming picture books, please visit: www.readandrhyme.at

Use these game cards to practise key words from the rhyming picture book 'Brown Owl' by Rachel Schmidlechner and Nadja Grace Bodner.How to play:1) shuffle the cards2) hand out one card to each pupil (some can have two cards if necessary)3) the child with the first card begins: "I have got the first card. Who has got Brown Owl?"4) The child with Brown Owl on their card carries on: "I have got Brown Owl. Who has got Cat?"and so it goes on until the last card is played.Once the children have got the hang of the game, they get faster and faster. You can turn it into a competition by timing them each round they play and seeing if they can improve on their record.SET 1: This set is for readers and includes questions and answers on the cards (24 cards).SET 2: This set is for non-readers and has only got pictures on the game cards.  The language can be simplified for younger learners. e.g. 'Here is Brown Owl! Where is Cat?' or 'Brown Owl is here! Cat is next!'
