The aim of this card game is to practise forming questions and short answers using the present simple tense with the opinion verbs like, dislike, love, and hate, as well as to reinforce vocabulary related to vegetables.
This game is a variation of the classic card game Go Fish, in which students try to find matching pairs by asking for specific cards.
The teacher should print two copies of the resource. The cards are shuffled and dealt so that each student receives five cards (seven in small groups, and three in larger groups). The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the middle of the table.
Students take turns playing the game. One by one, each student asks a classmate if they have a particular card by reading the question printed on their card (e.g. “Do you like artichokes?”).
The game continues until all cards have been matched. The student with the most pairs at the end is the winner.
